Buy It Now: 2008 Shelby GT500KR For $154,991.00

Not even a week has passed since Ford released the price of the 2008 Shelby GT500KR and we already have a dealership in Houston, Texas marking it up. This time it’s not just a 10-20,000 dollar markup though. Try almost double the MSRP of $79,995. Now whether or not someone would be insane enough to buy it at that price and make a sleezy dealership an extra $70,000 is up in the air, though I’m willing to bet they lower the price in the end. The 2009 Shelby GT500KR has already been confirmed so it’s not like the person will be buying a last year model. Check it out on Ebay here: Overpriced 2008 Shelby GT500KR On Ebay. (more…)

2008 Shelby GT500KR Price: $79,995

I can’t repeat the word that came to mind when I saw the official price tag for the 2008 Shelby GT500KR. With many people expecting the price to fall in the high $50,000 to low $60,000 range, which to me is still way too much to pay for a 4,000 pound front end heavy Mustang, the official price from Ford was actually $79,995 which doesn’t include the $1,300 gas guzzling tax. With gas prices closing in on $4 a gallon for premium and in some places have already passed that mark, one has to wonder what Ford was thinking when they designed this car. (more…)

9 Million Mustangs and Counting

Ford Motor Company announced today it has built its 9 millionth Mustang. The GT Convertible Mustang is heading west to be delivered to a dealership in Iowa. The Ford Mustang, approaching its 45th anniversary on April 17th, 2009, is one of the most widely recognized vehicles in the world. Today, one of every two sports cars sold in America is a Ford Mustang. The Mustang is also Ford Motor Company’s longest-running nameplate. Mustang was introduced on April 17, 1964, at the New York World’s Fair. (more…)

5.0L Engine Confirmed For 2010 Mustang?

You have to go out of your way to find information like this. New Zealand website Stuff.co.nz is reporting that Ford will be using a 5.0L engine in the 2010 Mustang. The news stems from Ford looking for a more fuel efficient engine for the popular Ford Falcon which currently sports a 5.4L V8. No word yet on what the specs of the new 5.0L engine will be but one can assume the specs will be over shadowed by the fact Mustang owners will once again be able to buy the famed 5.0L Mustang, even if it isn’t the old pushrod engine we have come to love. 2005 Mustang Sports V12 Aston Martin Vanquish Engine

One has to wonder what fans of the Aston Martin Vanquish have to say about having the powerful V12 finding a home under the hood of a Ford Mustang, though I have to admit it does look kind of cool seeing the 460HP/400TQ engine powering a S197 Mustang. We use those power numbers lightly as they are only the stock numbers for the base V12. The engine that presides in the 2005 Mustang has had “some work” done to it. You can check out the video of the engine in action after the fold as well as pictures and specifications for the V12 Mustang. (more…)

No New Special Edition Mustangs From Ford For 2009

With Ford’s recent release of their 2009 ordering guide, it looks like Ford Mustang enthusiasts will have to wait for the 2010 redesign before they see a new Special Edition Mustang from Ford. The 2009 year will see the Shelby GT500 and the 2008 Bullitt Mustang return in limited production with no changes of significance between the 2008 and 2009 years. All the 2009 Models with the exception of the 2009 Warriors In Pink Mustang will sport special 45th Anniversary Badges. Ford is offering one new package for 2009, a security package with active perimeter inclination & intrusion alarms along with a wheel locking kit. (more…)

Recession Fears Halt Mustang Sales In March

Today Ford Motor Company announced that sales of the Ford Mustang were down 30.9% in March. Ford sold 14,737 Mustangs in March of 2007 compared to just 10,180 last month. Recent fears of a recession and high gas prices are no doubt probable causes in the sharp decline in sales, as the Auto industry as a whole is seeing sharp declines in sales. The current state of the economy is not making it any easier for Domestic Automakers such as Ford Motor Company to climb out of the deep whole that they have found themselves in recently. (more…)
