honestly, you can make a mustang look like any other one. even a mach, all you need is money and a losers ability to hate and want what he can't have. anyone witha cobra knows the foglights are different, the hood has the nostrils with the bulge in the middle. also the emblems and svt on the back, with cobra on printed on the back bumper. whenever i see a poser i roll down my window and laugh, i point out the defects and lose em at the light.moral of the story, machs and cobras are both awesome. get what you feel will fit you. i'm sure everyone else will agree.

I perfer the cobra. There nice cars and if you not a huge person the seats are fine. BTW I would like to put the BS about the IRS be shitty. Since I own a car with a 9' solid axle my cobra handles better than any solid axle car. Thats a fact. Yea for the drag strip the Solid is the winner. But lets say road course what takes it then? The IRS will. To each his own. I see just as many mach's around as I do cobra's. Mod wise the cobra will net more rwhp per $ spent bar none!

+1, there are easy mods to beef up that irs if your pushing big power. also, how can you pass up the 6-speed! its comforting to know if that vette pulls up beside you, you know you got something for him, leaving him saying wtf!

I originally wanted a Cobra but bought a Mach 1 instead because it was about $5-7k cheaper. I now have about $20,500 invested in my Mach 1. This includes a complete 03-04 Cobra eaton setup, fuel system and T-56. Car put down 440/405 with nothing but a Stage 1 port, CAI, and exhaust (stock pulleys). I'm rods (which I have) and pistons away from having everything a Cobra would have but with the lighter alum block and a solid axle.

BTW, Mach 1 interior > Cobra interior , in my opinion...

20,500 invested and you only have 440 I would have bought the cobra for a little more and spent less to get more HP.

i believe he is including the price of his mach with all that he has spent. all he has to do is buy a $100 dollar pulley and he will be pushing 500!

oh by the way herb, the cobra interior is better

Which proves yet again....that it is cheaper to mod a cobra to get power then to mod a Mach and get that power! I am runing 455.66 / 486.38 and that was just with a blower pulley, CAI, tune, & exhaust. I haven't dynoed it again since we installed the other pullies & heat exchanger!

BTW~ You have a nice Mach!

Keep in mind though I'm running a very fat mail order tune so I am leaving a lot on the table. Were you running an upper or lower pulley when that pull was done and what size?

On the flipside though, it's gonna cost me at least 3k to get a built shortblock in the car so I'm right at the price of a Cobra at that point.

I know you have more mods than listed having dropped 20K + into your car what are they? I have 9K in my 2V and it puts down 367/358. Did you tune down for saftey and what kind of dyno?

Exactly.
If you're staying under 500hp, Cobra is the way to go. If you want more than that, and want it to stay in one piece, buy whatever you want and bend over.

cobra no doubt.

strong 6 speed you wont have to replace with power, engine that wont pop at 450 unexpectedly if some local tuner does a poor job. the seats are great, etc etc. The cobra looks alot nicer and is more forgiving with the amount of power that is easily achievable.

This really shouldnt be a debate

BTW my vote is 02-04 z06 over both. Full exhaust intake and a tune. 390 rwhp, 3100 pounds, upwards of 30 mpg hwy.

^^ i agree about the z06 but i need a back seat, so cobra hands down over the mach...not even a close match-up

i made that decision and went with the cobra. now if you want a z06, then i'd have to go with the c6 z. maybe when im an old fart, but for right now, you cant beat the performance of a 03/04 cobra.

herb, you can get you a nice lower end for 3000. i think the pistons on our cars are over-rated and would upgrade them.

thanks, i forgot to make that point. if i did switch over, id feel slow too. unless you throw money at it, and it isnt cheap to make a 600- 700 hp vette unless you throw a lot of nos at it. but then the bottle thing will get old.

The $20,500 INCLUDES the cost of the car. I paid $18k for my car. I have roughly $2500 in blower parts, the T56 and the 03-04 Cobra tank/fuel pumps after selling the stock parts I removed.

The car made 439/405 on a dynojet with a rock steady A/F ratio of 11:1. The day it made those numbers though, it was heatsoaked as I had just pulled up to the shop when they ran it.

and 02 z06 does not cost alot more than a terminator

also a HCI z06 will usually beat a 500 rwhp 03 cobra. Different strokes for different folks.
