Cool 06 Factory Shifter First Thing To Go (Biff's Closer for 6/16)

Hey Folks,

Hope everyone is having a great weekend?

I was overwhelmed at the number of cars at Biff's Friday night when I turned into the parking lot. I was expecting only Mustangs, which would be awesome and probably could be done with little effort. Could you see the looks on those Cheby drivers if they did not have a place to park there Vets. LOL (ANY TAKERS??)Out of all the cars there I was most impressed with the stangs of course, you all have some really nice Mustangs. I am sorry if I did not get to meet all of you that was present, I will try to get there a little earlier next time to meet you as you rumble in. Thanks for the welcome I really appreciate it. Any comments or suggestions for my car will be very helpful.

I will leave this tip and be on my way. If you have an 06 (and possibly an 05)manual shift stang. I would suggest replacing the stock shifter with a better quality shifter. The stock shifter I removed from my car had a spliced lever, NOT GOOD. I put a Hurst on mine and what a difference it made, at least 50% less throw. get'er done

Let her rip,
Brett

I noticed your shifter when I went to check out your ride, I can tell you it looked really sharp, I liked that white shifter nob in the white car, very nice. I meant to ask you if you liked it better, because I'm really happy with my 05 shifter as is. Was it difficult to swap out with the hydrolic clutch in the equasion? What brand did you go with?

Thanks for the compliment,

It is possible that your shifter may not be crippled like mine was, since yours is an 05 it may not be the exact same shifter.(if someone would be kind enough to tell me how to insert pics in this box, i will put the pics of the stock shifter and show everyone what i am talking about) But if it is,you do not know what you are missing and even if it's not you still do not know what your missing. You will save time going through the gears with a better than factory shifter, I promise. I installed a Hurst Competition Plus 391 0201 and I asked myself why did I wait so long, like night and day. It is a very easy change out, the instruction say about 30 min. but for a home builder it took just a few minutes longer. yeah like would you believe 3 hrs.LOL My nephew spun off one of the studs underneath and we had to drill out for a new nut and bolt. I bet nobody will ask me to help out working on there car now. Yeah I'm like, please hand me the saw saw and the sledge hammer please and while your at it hand me the skill saw will ya.LOL There are a few tricks, one in paticular is to put the dust boot on before you install the new shifter. I about lost all the patients I had trying to get my hands down in that confined area to get the dust boot back on. SIZE DOES MATTER, sorry guys.

sounds like you had fun

when we first got the 01 vert, the shifter was sloppy so we upgraded to a steeda triax, well worth every penny.....I guess I'm just not as eagar to upgrade the 05 yet.

definitely a no brainer, anyone that has an 05-06 manual stang needs to change it out asap. i am keeping the stock shifter with me for awhile to show people what it looks like and why it performs terrible.

what shifters do you all stock?
