My 3600 stall takes off fine with no jerkiness. I'm running a precision industries stall supposed to be one of the best. Check out www.converter.com, i also heard edge racing where good, www.edgeracing.com. 2800 should be great but like that other guy said get a stall matched to your engine. If your going to go with the xcam i'd get something closer to 3500. My setup consists of ported gt40ps, ported explorer intake, ecam all the boltons and i think my 3600 stall is perfect for my setup. It drives like stock if your soft on the pedal but throws you back when you nail it. I ran a best of 13.2 @ 104 on street tires with a 2.0 60' at the track on Wednesday. Pretty much stock suspension, i'm hoping with some suspension and maybe Drag Radials to hit a high 12. Then it's boost or spray. The car is very very consistent which is nice and will run the same time over and over with little effort. If you ever are around San Marcos i'd be glad to take you for a ride.

I would take up the ride with SWTGUY if at all possible, and see what you think before you make your purchase. But your absolute best bet would be to call a converter company and describe to them what you want....They know better than anyone else how to get what you want out of a converter.

Your goal is to beat LS1s or '03 Cobras? well i guess it doesnt matter b/c if you are running low 12s you have them both.

Ok, I need some advice, which tires are best (15x7 rims) ? excluding drag radials and slicks?

Also, this will show some ignorance, but...I have seen a few mustang GT's where the mufflers were located about 3 feet off the headers (where a normal cross over would be) Who makes, and how can I get this system? Is it truly desireable? My current plan is HTS coated shorty headers, off-read H-pipe, Flowmaster American Thunder cat-back. It is cheap, wicked sounding, and will be ok if i get inspected at my dealership : ) Or would the half-pipe deal be better? If so, where/how do i go about getting one? PS. this is not taking neghbors into consideration, but im looking for the most wicked exhaust note achievable, is the American Thunder system what i want? (yes, i know it doesnt flow very well being a flowmaster and all, but the offroad H-pipe will counter-act that, i am jsut after sound. Any suggestions?

The header collector mufflers are typically reserved for all out race cars. In something you want to drive on the street it would be worthless. I've actually seen cars go slower with open exhaust like that...hell I didn't even like having it dump at the rear axle in one of my cars. Lots of unneccesary noise without a power gain. And the cars look much better with tailpipes anyways

Dont waste cash on shorties, get some nice 1 5/8" Long tube/full lengths, a matching off road H-pipe (or even better an X-pipe for a few bucks more), and some mufflers you like. My personal favorites are the Spintechs, but if you have trouble finding them Magnaflow also has a nice catback setup.

As far as the offroad H countering the crappy mufflers. No way. Air flow is limited by the weakest point, if you have a full race 2" primary headers, 4" collectors and y-pipe flowing through a junk muffler, thats your limiting factor.

For tires on a 15x7...eh. I'm used to 17s, but any reputable manufacturer can hook it up. Don't buy a 275 series and think it'll hook better because the tire is wider. I think Nighthawk is the leading tire guru...so I'll leave that one to him.

Flowmaster's flow nice. Until you get around 500hp, you would never be able to tell a performance difference with a different muffler.

Ok, as to the reason im using an off-road H-pipe...ITS CHEAPER! I would rather go through cats, actually, because if you reduce backpressure too much on an engine you will LOSE power (as Tanya pointed out). The reason i went with shorties is they came with teh engine (well, actually, i had no choice as they are the only headers that will fit GT40P heads by this company (or so they say) and at this point 5 or so hp isnt going to bother me much. The H-Pipe and flowmaster american thunder is just a cheap, good sounding combo. The tires...im clueless, all i know is i want something that will hook, not cost an arm and a leg, and not hydroplane too bad.

use the shorty headers it will give u more torque. but cange them if u ever go with a power adder. x pipe will give you more lowend power.

Stupid question, but...Will a Bassani X-pipe (no cats) bold up under a stock 5.0 without any modifications (shorty headers to Catback)??

PS> even though in my SIG I am from LA, I lived in Alamo for 4 years, hence my reference to the 5 o clock crawl on Nolana.

As to the cobra info--Subject to change.

Dude dont go with an X pipe on a 5.0. Hpipes sound the best. If i were you i would het some Hooker Longtubes if possible with some sort of H-pipe, prochanber maybe, and some 40 series flows. that shit wil rock your world.

people say that going with an O/R midpipe loses alot of torque but honestly, you'll never feel a diff., plus O/R pipes sound 10 times better. X-pipe flows alot better on the high end while h-pipe gives more torque. H-pipe gives the more muscle car sound at idle and gets pretty loud at WOT, x pipe is a more mellow sound but screams loud as shit at WOT. Personally on a 5.0 i would go with an h-pipe, x-pipes belong on 4.6s if you ask me.

I still say long tubes/x pipe/spintechs (race models)..This is the setup I currently have on my 90. A lot of people have heard my car and will tell ya its very loud and sounds damn good

My 93 has longtubes/H pipe/spintechs(street series) and it is VERY quiet..Its also VERY STOCK, the exhaust system is the only performance mod this car has.

Iv got Hooker shortys, o/r h-pipe and flows. Its pretty loud and deep at idle but when you step on if it feels quieter inside the car, others tell me its loud as hell so i dont know. I have only heard someone else drive my car once and it was pretty loud about a block away. And my car is stock. I have never heard a fox with an X pipe, only a 94-95 sn95. Sounded alright, of course you have longtubes and i believe your car is modded so there would be a big diff. Dont worry im not doggin the x-pipe, i plan on putting an x pipe along with longtubes on the new car when i get it.

But good luck with your decision man, hope everything turns out good. And keep us updated.

My 302 produces best power above 3500rpm. That is why I want a more low-end torque enhancing system. Also, does anyone know at what RPM a stock 5.0 computer cuts off the fuel? If it is anything under about 6200-6500 I am going to have to re-flash mine, to that end, does anyone know a cheap way to do that?
