I havent had that happen but I am replacing the weatherstripping around my door next week on my 88. Its really easy on mine. All i have to do is take the interior trim around the door off and the weatherstrip has a piece of metal strip in it that slips in a groove around the body. You can probably take it apart to get the weatherstrip out and take a look at it and see if you can straighten that portion of it or get a new one.
