1988 Mustang GT front wheel size?

Im lookin for some new weld draglites 15x7's but im not sure what the backspacing should be. I have looked around and i see 3 1/2 for the most part but I also occasionaly see 4 1/2 as well. Anyone know what will fit without any of the wheel or tire sticking outside of the wheel well.

And anyone know a good tire size for these as well?

I would say measure the backspacing on the stock wheels. I beleive 88s had 16x7 stock rims.
Lay a straight edge acroos the inside lip of the wheel (not the tire) and measure the distance from the back side of the mounting flange to the bottom of the straight adge and look for a rim with the same measurement.

I want to say it will be 3.5
