1998 cobra laser red coupe FS - 56Kmiles

For tons of pics look here --> wile9coyote's photos and albums on webshots

Title is clean and clear and in my hand

Price has been lowered to 9K obo

Car is actually Laser red - thks Mach2

98 cobra coupe rio red w/tan lthr interior with only 56Kmiles

This is a very clean, straight, accident free example of what the SN95 cobra should be w/tasteful mods
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mac CAI w/K&N style filter in fender well
UPR adjustable camber plates
Accel coil packs w/8mm perf plug wires
Tokico Illumina 5way adj struts and shocks with FMS progressive rate springs (not lowered more than 1/2inch)
FMS flywheel and perf clutch (less than 2Kmiles)
FMS perf water pump and 180degree thermostat
FMS shorty headers (front air bungs plugged) air pump there but not hooked up
Bassani SS Xpipe w/cats (gutted) and Mil eliminators on O2 sensors (no engine codes)
Bassani SS catback with 3” polished tips
Pro 5.0 shifter with UPR billet ball shift knob
3:73 gears installed with ground pounder kit (strengthened cover)
FMS 03 cobra rims w/perf tires nearly new (less than 5K miles) BFG gforce T/A's 275/40/ZR17's all the way around
Granatelli upper/lower non-adj control arms
Steeda adj clutch quadrant and firewall cable adjuster
New black carpet and nice aftermarket mats
New brake pads and front rotors
New battery, plugs, air intake filter, ait, tps and return air valve installed
Billet pieces in the interior; a/c controls, light pull, rear defrost, streering wheels controls, power switches on doors and tweeter covers
FMS snake emblem in front grill, billet grill insert, rear bumper chrome “Cobra” letters billet fuel door
UPR polished gauge cluster cover and some new interior pieces (apillar, shift boot, etc)

Leather interior has no rips or tears and looks better than most mustang seats of this era. The dash is perfect, all knobs in place, interior is a 8.5 of 10
The door panels have some fading and discoloration on them, barely noticeable. Center arm rest/storage is great, every panel, seat, plastic surround in place.
The exterior body is incredible, no dents no scratches of any size, no problems at all. The underbody of this car is very clean, no rust whatsoever and no fluid leaks.
The engine and tranny run strong and smooth, no burning oil, no leaks, no problems over 100mph – smooth as glass.
To take this cobra from 0-60 in less than 5secs is a pure joy – the 5.0 shifter is very solid at all speeds, 2-3 is easy and smooth.
I have never had this cobra to the track, and had few street races – but it is very strong.

Known problems
-----------------

Some oxidation of paint on hood, roof, trunk lid, wing and front bumper (just fading). Small rock chips and some tiny scratches but otherwise everything is in very good condition 8 of 10

No dents, no accidents no paint work ever – title is clear and clean and in hand

CD player is not working, may be just a fuse out. Drv’s power seat not working, pass window will not go up from drv’s side, pass side controls all work.
Rear amps and speakers have been removed, this cobra had a fully amplified system in it, so all needed wires for amps/subs in trunk are run and will remain with car
Headlights are yellowed, have new ones that go with car. Trunk carpet is a little disfigured from prior amp rack setup,
Not ripped or damaged just wrinkly. Front two cobra rims have discoloration in the finish (they are powdercoated so no prob, just look kindof dirty)

Repair manuals, service CD from Ford, new set of O2 sensors, new plugs, new belts and other misc stuff come with sale of car. 5yrs of ownership and you build
Up some stuff – also a very nice chrome strut tower brace from UPR comes with. I have extra keys but no remote key fob, have original SVT certificate as well.

Here are tons of pics to look at à wile9coyote's photos and albums on webshots

Feel free to ask questions or request pics of anything related to the car or extra parts and etc…..

New throw out bearing and pilot bushing installed and working perfectly. The pass side window button is fine, its the drvs side button for the pass window that will not send it up, though it does roll it down..... pwr drvs seat not working, need to investigate further.
Thks - stevet

Well it has a completely stock engine in it with no power adders - has a cai on it and full exhuast with shorty headers, and the cats are gutted on the bassani Xpipe - so it might have an additional 30-40 crank hp at most. These cobra's were rated at 305crank hp and were a bit underated I believe, so lets call it 320crank hp (this is a strong motor in this cobra) - add 35 and you have 355crank, minus 15% through the power train (just ball parking it here) == 301rwhp. If it was closer to 20% loss then more like == 284rwhp.
Just a rough seat o my pants calculation here, though I have seen 98 cobra's put down 275rwhp with nothing more than a fenderwell cai on them.
With these miles on this engine you could easily build a 450rwhp setup with not much more (42lb inj, trex pump, fpr, 80mm maf, single blade tb, etc) than a KB 2.2L and 12psi. I have considered it myself - and am still thinking about it - though I have already bought a new project turbo car........
