you talking about a t-bird turbocoupe?

i assume you dont mean the t-bird supercoupe, since you said it was a 2.3...

i would like to have eiather one, as im sure you could make em pretty fast, for pretty cheap all the while getting better fuel economy vs. a mustang gt.

my girlfriend in high school had a super clean turbo coupe that was bone stock. it moved pretty good and was even an automatic. trouble was, something was always breaking on it.

I have had 5 of them (Turbocoupes). They make nice cruisers but are really too heavy
to be considered perfomance cars stock.
The 83-86s have T3s and the 87-88s have IHIs which are smaller.
The 87-88 have a hydroboost setup and adj suspension(costly) but
are nicer than the early models.
The autos were rated at 155 and the manuals at 195.
With some small mods(3 inch down elbow and 3 inch exhaust, timing bump,
cold air intake)you can pick up 25-35 hp.
Most of the drivetrains are being used in Mustang swaps(I have one that went 13.45
@ 107 bone stock except for the above mods).
Body and trim parts are hard to find but I would get another if it was in good shape.
26-30 hwy manual,24-28 auto(A4LD is a weak kneed sob).

83-86 7.5 in rear end, t3 turbo, non intercooled, e3(crack prone manifold)
87-88 hood scoops, crappy I/C setup, IHI turbo, better manifold, head design, 8.8 with rear disc brakes etc.

all verry fun, easy to work on, have potential, just like it was said they are heavy. I've worked on my share of 2.3ts from stangs, merkurs and pintos etc.

I owned and 85 and put a Stage 1 Turbonetics (I think that was the brand) turbo on it when the original one failed. This was all about 10 years ago so the car was kinda sorta new...well newer than it would be now. With about 20 lbs of boost it was a blast to drive and the guy that bought it from me was a happy camper. I sold it to get a 95 T-Bird which was a much better car as a daily driver. I still have my 83 T-Bird but about the only thing left stock on it are the doors.
