2003 Cobra Tire Width

I bought a 03 Cobra and found a set of 17x9 polished cobra wheels new in box and want to know what is the widest tire I could put on them? I'd like to go with 315's on back but i'm guessing that I need 10.5 wheels.....

Thanks for the help in advance...

The car was designed to take a 275 from the factory but, with a wider wheel a 315 will fit but, that is the max.

On the 9 in a 275 is about it. I have 315's on the rear but also have 10.5 rims

It depends on the brand and what tire you want. All 275s will fit. Some 315s will fit okay. I ran some Nitto DR 315s for a while. They worked good for me. If you want the full potential of a 315 you'll need a 10.5 rim.

My cousin had a 315 on stock chrome wheels. He was running a spacer though because they would rub on the inside.

Made a buy

Hey guys thanks. I stopped in at the Discount Tire in Round Rock and bought some 245\45\17 for the front and put the 275\40\17's on the rear. The guy at discount made me a good deal for $125 a tire for the BFG G-force radials. They look good on the polished Cobra wheels.

Cudo's to DT in RR......

I wouldn't go any lower than a 275 in the front b/c of the foot print and that the car is designed from SVT with 275 all around

Well I am old school and the fronts are supposed to be smaller.... And the store I was at only had 3 275's.....

If I don't like them I'll upgrade to some drag radials for the rear...........
