2003 GT

Well, figured I should start a MOD thread with all this money burning a hole in my pocket. Long story short, I had a little wreck, and I am having some work done. ANR will be doing ALL the work on my car as time goes on. So far, my car has a bbk o/r x pipe, and flowmaster 40's.

Next weekend, I am getting the following:
*New Steeda Ball Joints
*MM CC plates in black
*New tie rod ends
*KYB shocks and struts
*Eibach Springs

I will try to get pics as things go along. I am going to have to stick around the shop because I wont have a ride anywhere, and they are going to be done with my car same day. I am going to build out the 2V motor to be all motor, no power adders.

Summer 2008
*VT Stage 1 Cams
*Hooker Long Tubes
*Tubular K-member
*Upper and lower control arms

I am trying to find the best heads/cams set up that will give me the most power WITHOUT any power adders, so if anyone has any suggestions, I am happy to take them.

Somewhere in here, I need to get rid of my auto tranny. Got too good of a deal on the car with the auto to not pass it up. If anyone wants to trade 5 speed for auto, or know anyone who does, please let me know

Pics to come next weekend.

I'd go stage 2 cams from VT, same price as the stage ones too. More bang for the buck. Head options, get a set of Fox Lake heads (stay clear of Patriots and all their products). Get the cam springs for anything larger then a Stage 1 cam, full exhaust (ditch the Flowmasters in favor of something better) like Bassani, Magnafow or Corsa, get a CAI, TB and plenum (I suggest Accufab on the last 2 items) and you'll be happy with that for now.

There are 'other' options out there, that is my opinion.

Will has KYB shocks on his Camaro (from when he bought it), they are not the greatest FWIW.

HAHA... that's great! I think he wants you to go with some Bassani midlengths... but he might be biased. Don't go with Kook's... Jody NO LIKEY! And like he said if Stage 2 are the same price.... why not?

When did Mustangs and Camaros have the similar ride characteristics?

I have heard alot of good things about kYB, and anything is better than stock to be honest. I am not looking to dump serious cash in to the suspension, but willing to spend more than needed to just "get by".

Bassani's are going to make me sell msyelf to the devil to afford it, i know it!

Stage 2 cams are the same price? Been lookin alot of places, and cant seem to find the same price.

To be real honest, if you do not plan to do any head work, I'd go with the stage 1 cams, if you want to take full advantage of the stage 2 cams, porting the heads, getting a nice plenum, tb, and cai combo, the stage 2 cams will give you full potential. Of course a spring upgrade would be needed. Otherwise, a stage 1 cam will do and still give you a hint of rumble at idle that it has cams. New or used, deals are out there, you just have to be there at the right place at the right time with paypal ready to go. If it is worth anything, I have used cams in my build and they are VT stage 2 n/a cams and I got them for 3 bills.

I just am really undecided about doing any performance work on my car with an auto tranny. I have been trying to find someone to trade me, or buy the stock shit off my car so I can afford to do the swap

Heck lets put a TKO600 in your car. We have a nice used one you can do a test drive on still. Thats a starting point of a solid drivetrain and you can build almost anything you want and have no issues at all!

Actually we have the transmission only that will work for you. You would need the following and maybe some other small items:

Transmission
Bellhousing
clutch kit
flywheel
quad cable kit
pedals for 5-speed

I will probably start buying the tranny stuff in pieces. Who knows, I may just snag everything at once.

stage 2 cams are the same price but require valve springs. an added 200 ish expense, but well worth it to save.

For heads, I would go local to you and get port pros to do a set for you. Harold can also spec you some custom grind cams for the heads that he ports and flows. You will end up with more power than your average vt2/ported heads 2v.
