Oversight? Did you not understand the reasoning behind the decisions made, especially after we had to fight to earn the priveledge to hold car shows out there? Benton doesn't have ESP, he can't magically read your mind and see that you want to go into the car show, before you tell him, before he'd put Clayton's (m48xhp) Mustang in it.

I don't get the big deal anyways. This isn't some car show where people rate your car and you win a trophy; it's simply a promotional event for our club. We've had car shows full of "beaters" (trucks, sedans like mine, etc.), just to show that you don't have to have a "sports car" to join our club and have fun; I'm one of them, so are Kevin, Mary, Bobby, etc.

It may not be the direct fault of the officers as a whole, but they are the group responsible for the club. As an officer, you coming in here and telling us it's our fault for the bad rep makes you, and consequentially the club, look really bad. If I were in your shoes, instead of sitting on a high horse and blaming us, I would be humble (hey, kind of like when I started this tread) and just ask people what they've heard, and then do my best to explain my side.
Do you want my opinion as to why our club has a bad rep? See what I have to say below...

I find this hard to believe. I drive a 4cyl auto accord. I was 17 when I joined the club and had stupid 18" wheels on it. No one put me down because "my car sucked" and it was slow/retarded looking. People suggested that I removed the 18s when I started autocrossing and wearing out tires faster, and I did. I didn't accuse them of "bashing" my car and putting me down because of the wheels I put on it; only as a suggestion to make my auto-x experience better for myself, and easier on my wallet.

Now, I still have the Accord, still have the respect of my friends in the scc, and am responsible for putting on Auto-X events. I talk smack with friends that drive cars that put down 2-3X as much power than mine does, and then talk even more smack when I beat them at Auto-X by seconds. No one "puts me down" for not having a Mustang or a Camaro; I still have just as much respect as any other member that joins the SCC.

I get suggestions that I should trade it for a faster, more competitive car, because I Auto-X 2-3 times a month and am handicapped by an under-prepped car, and again, I don't see them "putting down" my car; only as giving suggestions to make my Auto-X experience better, after 2.5yrs of racing the Accord and improving my driving skills.

I know you'd have more respect in the SCC for paying your own way, as a good chunk of our members are right now, and many members have in the past. Yeah, there are people that have had their parents pay for their shit; I'm one of them, but I'm not about to disprespect my parent's decision to put me in a safe, reliable car by going and trading it on some faster car. I'll be waiting to graduate before I buy a secondary Auto-X car with my own coin. I'll still keep daily driving the accord for a long time, unless I have to trade it for a tow vehicle 5-10yrs from now...

which is why this site (LSS) is bad ass. we could care less what is on your car or whatever, just as long as you enjoy your car and are a mustang enthusiast.
See my above. The same applies to our site, except you don't have to be a mustang enthusiast.

You were "told" that one of the officers "stole." Please backup this rumor with FACT before accusing one of us of stealing; that's a fairly serious accusation

Look guys, the POINT I tried to make by quoting all those posts was that our club only has a bad "rep" because a few people take things the wrong way, take it to heart, then tell everyone they know not to join our club because we're full of XXX car hating assholes. You think we don't like Mustangs? Only a couple of years ago every officer had a Mustang. The back of our club shirt still has a Mustang on it. Some of our old skool members started autocrossing with used TX-DPS 5.0 Mustangs back in the day.

I'm going to quote and highlight the below posts just as an example, please don't take this the wrong way:

The point I tried to make and am still trying to make is that our club's bad "reputation" is based off of hearsay and BIG misunderstandings. It's further perpetuated when people don't give us a fair shot and just tell other people what they HEARD.

Now guys, I invite y'all to come out to this weekend's and future events/meetings and see what our club's really like and give us a 2nd chance. Our previous officers may have sucked at recruiting and making prospective members feel involved and see what the club REALLY is like the RIGHT way, but come out and give us a 2nd chance, we're much better at it now...
