Hello all. I'm not here to start anything, nor argue with anyone, just wanted to point out a few things that came to my attention.
I really don't want to step on anyone's toes, nor call anyone names.

Not the crowd I choose to hang out with. I join a car club for the hobby and to be surrounded by other enthusiasts that can actually provide interesting stories as well as aged insight. When the "sports car" is put back into the club I may rethink it all. However, the automotive discount is a big plus for the club.

How have you most interacted with club members? Is it over the internet? If so, might I point out that it is not surprising that you were talking to a bunch of computer nerds, as they are most likely to be on the internet. I'm a Computer Engineering major, and, consequently, even when I'm in class, I am around a computer with an internet connection most of the day.
Not everyone in the club is a computer nerd, auto-xer, drag racer, rallyer, or whatever. Certainly, there are several of us who are are around computers a lot, and, thus, we are usually on several forums, a lot.
If you don't come to events or socials, how can you meet the people who aren't computer nerds? I know many club members who rarely post on our forum, much less any others.
I believe Redum said at an auto-x (last semester?) someone was very rude. I'm not sure of the exact specifics, but, IIRC (please correct if I'm wrong), he got a ride with someone who said some things that were in poor taste. I just wanted to make it clear that there are LOTS of people at auto-x's, many of which aren't members of TAMSCC. 99% of the people I have met auto-xing around the state are very friendly, some people can be in very bad moods during an auto-x, escpically if they are drively poorly (ask how I know that...).
Also, we are kind of anal about rules. The unversity is very strict with what we can and can not do at the Annex. Therefore, we need to not fool around with safety related rules. This also includes grid and around the start/finish line at auto-x's. In these post-Bonfire days, with Risk Management, we tend to be over-protective, and for good reason. Without the annex, the club would die.
If someone screams at you in relation to some safety rule, please, understand, its for your safety, as well as the safety of the club. While it may seem unimportant at the time, we could literaly be one accident away from losing the annex.
I doubt that any officer tried to be mean, or make you feel as though you shouldn't join our club or be at our events. I doubt any member would do this either. But also remember when asking for rides, many competitive people do not want the weight in their car. I lost to Frank today by .077 secs. When dealing with gaps that small, 100-200 lbs makes a difference.
So anyone who doesn't want to give a ride on their last few runs isn't trying to be mean or discourage you, just that they want every advantage they can get, and rightfully so.
Also, I have never, ever told anyone new person that their car/driving/whatever sucks at an event. EVER. I have talked my share of smack, that is for sure, but I do not try and make noobs feel slow/inadequte/stupid/whatever. At OD102 on sat, I gave rides to at least 10 people, burning up a set of R compounds in the process. I also rode with several other individuals who were looking to improve their auto-x driving. I drove everything from an MR2 to a Lincoln Mark VIII to an M3 to a GTP, all in good fun.
If anyone is around during the summer, the summer practices are great fun. Not only do you get unlimited runs, you can con your friends into driving thier car, and then the smack REALLY gets deep

Also, OD101and OD102 are great times to get out and meet new club members and try their cars. Even if you don't have a car to auto-x, you can bum rides from every kind of car imaginable.
