Cool 04 Hood Pins Install

pg1

I decided to finally install my FRPP hood pins on my GT. I can't take credit for the idea I used to mount the shorter FRPP pins, as I saw it done somewhere on the net before. So for anyone who hasn't seen it done this way...here ya go.

1st pic is of the FRPP kit I used. As said before the pins are only 3 1/2" long and some fab work had to be done to make them work. I believe Moroso sells longer ones, but I had these and dove in

You need to remove the hood bumpers and clean the paint off in prep to welding. Then enlarge the hole (centered) to 1/2" for the pin to fit thru.

I then tack welded the bottom nuts with the pins threaded, to make sure I was centered. (Notice the use of the high-tech old T and sweats to protect from any welding spatter) Once I was satisfied, I finshed welding on the bottom nuts.

Once done with that, put a dab of paint on the tips of the pins and lower the hood. The paint will transfer to the hood and give you the area to drill out the bottom of the hood, starting with 1/8".

pg 2 to come....
