reviving the 65

My old 65 is now quite rusted and in very poor condition. If it wasn't my first car, I wouldn't even bother, but I just can't get rid of it. Because of the rust damage, I don't think it would be a good idea to try to restore it, better to just modify to make it what I want. It is only a coupe, so I'm not gonna destroy anything rare.

The 289 is gone, the C4 was slipping, and the manual drums were barely adequate. SO my plans change alot of things.

Engine will be a 427 Windsor with either 2x4 carbs or 1x4 with a Paxton. I want the teardrop hood like a 64 Tbolt, so the 2x4 carbs will fit nicely. But of course the extra power would be nice with the supercharger. I want at least 500hp on pump gas.
This needs a good transmission, and of course it must be a manual, something in a 6 speed sounds nice.
of course a 9" with something like 3:89's in a locker or limited slip.

I will need some wider tires for sure, no way this power will get down in a 2500 lb car with stock size tires. Rear will be 17x12's Torque Thrust, front will be 17x10's. Suspension will have to be changed, front will be a Mustang II type in a narrow crossmember, rear will be narrowed 4 link.

Not much of a frame exist on the car now and rather than piecing it together, I see this frame from Jegs that includes a 12 pt cage. I like that idea of a good cage, especially with my past.

Brakes are alway good too, 13" or 14" rotors with 4 piston calipers in the front, 11's in the rear. Power with ABS.

White with Blue or Red with White lemans stripes with alot of Shelby appearing parts. Maybe black to match the 05.

Filled with ideas, but first I must get it home from Hoss's and tear it apart. OH yeah, some money would be good too
