Wanna talk about what a fine job one of those mentioned small towns do?
How about the time I jumped 3 car burglars off duty at my neighbors house and the report that was written by one of their sergeants was only 5 lines long and was written as "criminal Mischief" and not burglary of Vehicle as it should have been, not to mention the fact the officer didn't list the description of the car, the 3 actors, or the freakin license plate number of the bad guys car....nor the fact that the witness (me) was an off duty officer....

Well, since you opened the door:
All PD's get the bullshit calls, civil standbys blah blah blah....The difference is, the small town officers don't sling the bullshit line of "We're out fighting real crime, we don't have time for that shit"
Where do I get the hour response time if they show up at all??? From experience....the same place you get all the shit you have been spewing since you started this thread. When I have been in the unfortunate situation that I needed SAPD, it took the patrolman just under an hour to get there. I couldn't believe it. I called dispatch twice in the hour just to make sure that someone was coming.
I have been at dinner in uniform sitting next to SAPD officers and heard the call come out on the radio. Observed the officer answer the call, continued to eat, then get back on the radio and report the call as unable to locate.... 10-8, never once leaving his seat.
Here are more examples of
MY dealing with the SAPD.......not stories I have heard.....these are my actual dealings with the city's finest.
My favorite:
I was 18 in the military, I had car troubles and start walking to use a phone. I walk down FM 1346 which as you may or may not know turns into East Houston. I was using a pay phone to call someone for help when a group of 6 guys walks around the corner. 2 walk up to me an start telling me to give them money, 1 sucker punches me and the fight is on. The other 4 jump in and I get hit over the head with a payphone receiver, breaking the phone and knocking me out. They run off with my wallet and car keys.
When I come to, there is blood everywhere, the clerk calls SAPD and SAFD. I'm treated and refuse transport by EMS. While the SAPD officer is taking my report, a young lady comes up to the officer and tells him that she knows what happened and that the guys that did it are around the corner at the bus stop. The SAPD officer does not take any info from the girl nor does he ever go around the corner to see who these guys are.
After he takes my report, I ask him for a courtesy ride to someplace a little more safe.........His response, " I'm getting off work in 10 min, I'll have someone else come check on you." Then he drove off leaving me standing in the middle of the parking lot. No other SAPD officer ever came by.
I owe SAPD a lot for that one, cause at that moment, I decided that I would never be "That Cop" and leave someone asking for help in a situation like that. Big thanks to the SAPD for that one. Oh BTW, I was a military police officer when this occurred.
Example 2:
I'm booking a prisoner at the mags office when I walk in to the intake DA's office. Just in time to hear this conversation between Bull (I'm sure you know who he is) and a SAPD officer:
Bull: Let me get this straight, LAST WEEK you took a robbery report at this lady house where she had jewelry stolen.
SAPD: Yes
Bull: Today you get called back for a different report and while you are there, the lady points out a guy telling you that he was the same guy that robbed her LAST WEEK.
SAPD: yes
Bull: So you arrested him for the robbery last week......Today??
SAPD: Yes
Bull: You know you need a warrant to make an arrest that long after the incident, Right??
SAPD: Oh, is that how it works???
Example 3:
Booking a prisoner into the mags office when I'm confronted by an SAPD officer. "Oh, so you guys can book people I see", I tell him yeah. He ask, then why do you call us to come pick up people you arrest on SAPD warrants?? We're too busy fighting real crime to be messing with that bullshit.....Whatever, if you don't want them arrested, don't put the warrants into the computer...pretty simple. Especially when you consider that most PD's don't even mess with your warrants until there are 3 or more, stop bitching. When Live Oak, Selma, UC, and Converse arrest on each other warrants. We go pick up our prisoner's and don't bitch about it.
North Hampton, Dover and other subdivision are trying to get out of San Antonio's jurisdiction because of the poor service. I can speak for North Hampton because its surrounded on all sides by Converse. You never see SAPD in there unless its to answer a call.
And save the bullshit about how big San Antonio is. You guys all work out of sub-stations and are assigned districts within your area, Most of your districts are no larger that the small cities you are complaining about here.
Big city this and big city that......remember that although you are the big city, us small town wanna be's are the majority around the state and that San Antonio, didn't magically appear one day with a population of 1 million, it started out small like the rest of us. That most small town cops pay to put themselves through the police academy. So take your 3.5 X for working holidays, your paid benefits for all of your family, your overtime, your collective bargaining, your police union, and high salary and remember that us wanna-be's are doing the same damn job for a lot less and paid money out of our pockets to do it.
If anything that I have said here offends you,
take a look at post #1 and remind yourself who started the bitching, complaining, name calling, better than thou, "I'm gonna get me a small town cop" bullshit. Its not that we don't get enough shit from the public as a whole, but for it to be started by a brother officer is what really pisses me off.
