I pull the street tires and bolt on slicks when I get to the track.
I use the line lock to do a decent burnout in second gear.
I stage and bring it to 6000-6500 RPM.
I wait for the third yellow and sidestep the clutch.
I hang on.

Seriously, drag radials will make a huge difference. Do not be afraid to air them down and try different pressures. Airing down normal street tires only hurts your traction. Airing down true drag radials usually helps.
