The second project is a 89 convertible being assembled to show case our turbo kits and show what can be done with a reasonable budget with well thought out modification plan over time..
this car could be build by anyone one step at a time over time in relativly small steps and you would end up with a exceptional car..
Originaly a four cylinder car it was converted by the previous owner to v-8 without any suspension upgrades and while this makes for a nice low looking stance the resulting ride is horendous with lots of float and poor handleing.
The fuel system was also rigged by the previous owner and is being replaced with new line and a 255 in tank pump.
We have installed eibach sway bars and poly bushing kit KYB shocks and struts along with eibach pro kit springs and a set of economy rear control arms.
A pro 5.0 shifter was installed and a spec stage 2 + clutch
The motor was pulled and the accesories and intake all sand blasted and painted to match the cars yellow and black paint scheme and the engine compartment was taped off and painted as well in black since the firewall was still the original maroon.
We then added Air flow research 165 cc heads with bolt down 1.6 ratio roller rockers and a E-303 cam and then covered the rockers with a set of motorsport efi valve covers.
We installed a 70 mm T body as well and are adding 42 pound inectors in preperation for the turbo kit.
The short block remains the stock short block that came with the car with forged factory pistons.
A ford motorsport aluminum drive shaft was added and the rear was treated to a set of 3.31 gears < in prepration for the turbo > and a new traction lock and some ranger 5 lug axles and drums..
the entire rear end was rebuilt including all new hardware for the brakes and new hard lines on the rear end for brakes as well
The front end was converted using svo 5 lug rotors and stock 89 v-8 calipers
The brakes were then treated to a hawk brake upgrade kit consisting of braided lines and hawk arbotic brake pads for the front and rear shoes for the drums.
New drums and calipers were installed after beign painted yellow along with new parking brakes and cables as the previous owner had not installed or hooked up the brakes to the v-8 rear end during his conversion
For wheels we are going with the old stnadby 95 cobnra r 17 inch 5 lug along with 275-40-17 et street drag radials in the rear and 245 45 17 front tires.
The car is still under construction with the motor going back in this weekend then the fuel upgrades and the custom exhaust being done next week and by next weekend it should be running.
We expect some where close to 500 rwhp from this car and it should be a blast to drive and a corner carver.
here are some pics of the 89 in progress.
Few pics of the car.
