    393???

so ive been talking to this guy about a 393 he has freshly rebuilt with flat top pistons, edelbrock intake and heads, and i beleive matching cam. along with a mallory distributor. This would be a very nice motor for the '73. claims its a 425 hp motor.

ive never swapped engine sizes before, do the brackets like for the alternator, and p/s swap from the 302?

is there anything else i should consider when doing this kind of a swap?

obviusly tranny and rear end are going to have to be upgraded as well. but that was already in the plans.

A stroked Windsor is a great choice for a big heavy car like yours.

Mounts are the same but you might have issues with clearance. Get the swap mounts they will give you a little bit extra clearance. If you put in a 351, Highrise intake, large carb with air cleaner (or efi) you might hit your hood. The guy before me was stupid and SLAMMED the hood down when he had like a 750, spacer, and air cleaner and it just made a nice dent in the hood . Cowl hood is the way to go. Im still debating if i should build my 351 into a stroker or no. Its a job and there will be stuff that goes wrong. Im thinking hood clearance and header/motor mount issues are the biggest problems.

You can get mounts to lower it down a little. Search the net there are tons of swap blogs that will tell you what you need. I'm swapping in a 393 into my fox coupe.

You don't need swap mounts to put a 351 in a '73, they fit just fine. The '71 through '73s came with both 351W and 351Cs, the '71s Mach 1s had an option for a 429. Some of the engine brackets will probably be different, the oil pan will be different. Since you already have a 28 oz. imballance 302 the flywheel and ballancer will be the same.
Find out what heads that 393 has, it will need some of the better Edelbrock heads such as a Victor Jr., or possibly some of the latest Performer RPM heads should work but will be a little on the small side.
The current combo is an '85 coupe with 302 bored and stroked to 364, Ported Twisted Wedge heads and a BXR intake, A9M ECM with a Moates chip, Doug Nash 5 spd, 4.56 gears, Hoosier 275/60/15 drag radials.
Daily driver '89 GT 302 stock block, crank, rods and pistons, ported GT-40P heads with stock valves, Ported Explorer intake, B302 cam, Z spec T5, 3.73 gears, Moates chip and no traction. Made 325 whp and 325 wtq.
