I'm the one who preps the track.Since people are blaming the prep for times being off,I'll give you some factors.It's not an excuse, but some of what makes track prep go away.When you have about 80+ street cars with treaded tires ripping the compound off the surface of the track and leaving the bald spots on the line,times will be off.It helps to have a mixture of slick'd tired cars to lay some rubber back down to substain grip,which wed nite there were about 4 cars with slicks and a slew of AWD's.Another effect wed nite was when the front blew in,with hi winds blowing,and dust in the air,which blows across the track and will stick to the compound that is on the track.One thing I've learned in 40yrs of drag racing,conditions sometimes will not be the most perfect,that's where you learn to set up a car for the conditions,whether it's going soft on the rear suspension when it's slick and stiffening it up when it's got alot of grip or detuning a motor, to get a grip on the situation.I see many,many cars go down the track,exit,grab their slip and drive right back to the staging lanes to go again,and see very few making adjustments to meet the conditions.So keep bashing,that's fine,I've had Connie Kalitta and Del Worshams dad say the same thing in my face that the prep suck'd,and the next cars that went down the track after them ran like a rocket on wheels.
