4.10 gears installed this weekend

I got my 4.10 gears installed this weekend and It made a difference in the acceleration but there is alot more road noise and slight vibration. I don't feel anything through the steering wheel and the gas pedal. With my 3.55's the ride was smooth. Is this normal? Can a 1 piece Al driveshaft fix the problem?

road noise and vibration shouldn't appear with a gear swap... a good bet on the vibration is they dropped the driveshaft.... is the vibration speed dependant? or does it occur with rpms? if the driveshaft is bent, make whoever did the gears pay for it... road noise, i dont know... maybe they toasted your tires after the install???? another idea.... maybe you're just more observant since you had work done (sounds odd but your senses may be hightened since you are maybe looking for problems since it was in a shop... we get that a lot, people at my work do that.. get the car back and notice "new " noises that were always there)

No the slight vibration is at speeds of 50MPH and++++. I'll talk to the shop tomorrow, I watched the guy do the work and nothing was dropped and he also explained what he was doing.

I just had 4:10 gears installed on my 08 gt 2 weeks ago and haven't any probs. They did tell me to be nice for at least 500 miles though or there would be some wining in the gears.

Is the ride going to be rough or should it be smooth like It once was with the 3.55's?

Might just be your gears getting broken in.

my gears where making some noise when i first got em.. now they dont make noise at all really. the only noise i hear now is at the driveshaft... i think i just need to swap to a lighter one now. it only make noise on downshifts

the vibration is not normal.... sounds like your driveshaft is out of ballance like i said before... they can blame it on whatever they want but make them fix it...

Did he mark your driveshaft when it took it off? It's important to mark it because it can be put back on in 4 different directions.

I just got back from SA with a new Al. driveshaft. I had one the guy's from PSI ride with me and told him about the problem, and the problem was the driveshaft. The bolt inside the rear end holding the pinion gear in place was not tightened all the way, and that solved the vibration, thanks Dean!!!!!! I really love the 4.10's now. My other mods are C and L street CAI, Steeda Underdrive pullies, Brenspeed 93 OCT tune, Corsa Axle backs. I'm getting the short throw shifter from Steeda next month, then Kook's LT Headers, and the new NSR (no spring required) cams from brenspeed. Thanks for all the replys!!!!!

Okay...What are people paying for gear installs?

BTW, in my opinion gear whine means improper installation or faulty (cheap) gears.
