Ryan, at least upgrade to disc brakes in front, also really check out your steering and front suspension.
I seriously recommend, stop spending any money or time on making the car faster. Put some into the important parts.

I wrecked my 65 because of a broken tierod end, what about $30. I just kept the old original steering and rebuilt the drum brakes, big mistake.
This build is going to take alot longer, but it will be done right from the beginning.
