I did mine w/o pulling the motor. I used an engine support from above and also used a poll jack to help. Of course I did it in my shop and used a lift too. It took me about an hour and a half to do it and it fit fine, no modding needed.
What brand did you buy?
You can do it in the driveway, you just need an engine hoist and some tall jack stands, a spring compressor (if you have stock springs) tools, air compressor helps with air tool.
