86 had e6 heads... 87 had e7's.... see a pattern there? speed density was from 86-88 after which they went to mas air.. i really dont see the big deal.... later on when you're not happy with that motor, go blow it up and throw an 88 in there... forged pistons stock, e7's (not that bad with some port work) and a mass air conversion isn't that hard.. the hardest part is tracking down a good maf and a decent a9l or a9p....
