Waylon, he did do the stage 1 set up, so it should be slightly firmer then OEM stock, but not to the point where it should shudder on take off in first.
As far as that screw goes, if you have a mirror and a light, I'd make sure it is there or not before you go further. getting that screw is a fine thread machine screw and hard to find. A bolt shop may have it, but you'd have to cut the length I am sure.
