Well its alot harder to organize an event than what most people think . I would do your home work first and model the event after something that works . Don't just shoot from the hip on it .
I am sure some of the shops in town would be interested in a minor sponsorship role with some big name as the major sponsor . You could do the event twice a year so it does not get old month after month .
