Incorrect, you have a 6 bolt flywheel. If you have a Cobra or Mach, then you have an 8 bolt flywheel. All GT's came with just the 6 bolt cast iron crank, only forged cranks have an 8 bolt, unless it was from a Navigator (certain years).

An aluminum flywheel will make no difference with gears, but having 4.10's and an aluminum flywheel (basically, 1rst gear is useless). The less mass with get you in the upper RPM range in a hurry.
I have an 8 bolt in my engine, but I have a Cobra crank with a Fidanza flywheel.

The late 99 and 00-01 were Windsor engines, the rest were Romeo, maybe that is the confusion you have.
