The leaf blower trick is pretty nice ... and I'd not worry about the velocity of the dust hitting your paint.
Don and I use the leaf blower on ourselves when we are done mowing the yards (to dust off when you are sweaty), and there's nothing that comes OUT of the blower except air.
When I first saw Don using the leaf blower on his car, I was like, "WTF?"
But it works well and gets all the little crevices that tend to hold water ... like MustangLuver98 says!
