what kind of clutch set is it? it may just not be able to handle the torque... i'm not familiar with the 86 pedal set up but the newer mustangs have an adjustable quadrant that's adjusted by pulling up on the clutch pedal.. if it has a billet quadrant, install a firewall adjuster... it's easy and costs about $50 at most performance shops.
