I am also currently running an E cam with 1.7 roller rockers... It runs nicely... but I would prefer just a bit more punch out of the car.
I'd check into a tfs stage 2 cam or something comparable with 1.6's and verify clearances with the manufacturer to make sure it wouldn't require fly cutting the pistons... you would probably want to stay away from the cams that require flycutting the pistons unless you end up doing a complete rebuild on your motor.
