code 18
anyone have this code before? its a continuos memory code. IDm circuit failure or SPOUT circuit grounded. some other website gave these definitions for code 18. (R) Check base timing & advance function -
(M) Ignition TACH signal erratic I've replaced the Ignition Module(old one checked ok and new one did too at the Zone) and set timing, replaced plugs, new battery. i'm thinking of replacing the pick up coil as well (pip) and possibly changing out the ignition coil.
the car idles well but the exhaust sounds like its cammed and the car smokes pretty bad, running really rich. really weird cause under the hood the motor looks and sounds like its running fine no shaking or anything. but the exhaust sounds crappy and there is all that smoke. tomorrow i will check to make sure again that there is no ground to the spout and i will check timing again. really wierd thing is that the KOEO test passes with no problems (code 11) but continuous memory is still displaying code 18. this would be my last engine gremlin, then its off to restoring the rest of the car.
