God put your sorry ass here and you'd better believe he can take your sorry ass out as well .

I'm sure God appreciates your shit talking!
I am not claiming that we need to remove 'God' from the entire earth. I believe we need to remove it from politics though. You are free to worship whatever god and join whatever Religion you want to in America and will always have that freedom. No one has ever tried to take that away from you in this country. In fact, it's one of our most treasured rights, not to oppress someone for their beliefs.
However, plenty of people in power in this country have tried to force a particular religion onto people. Prayer in schools and using tax payer money to put the Ten Commandments on display or two that come to mind. Also, Changing the Pledge of Allegiance to include God in it. Changing our currency to include God in it.
The last two things were included in the 20th century folks. Don't get mad at those who don't believe for trying to remove it from your life because we aren't trying to remove it from your life. We are trying to remove it from government, as there is no place in government for Religion.
Pledge of Allegiance from 1923 to 1952 was:
Quote:
|
I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands: one Nation indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.
|
Then in 1952 they decided that Religion had to be involved:
Quote:
|
I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with Liberty and Justice for all.

As for Currency:

A law was passed by the 84th United States Congress (P.L. 84-140) and approved by the President on July 30, 1956. President Dwight D. Eisenhower approved a joint resolution declaring In God We Trust the national motto of the United States. The same Congress had required, in the previous year, that the words appear on all currency, as a Cold War measure: "In these days when imperialistic and materialistic Communism seeks to attack and destroy freedom, it is proper" to "remind all of us of this self-evident truth" that "as long as this country trusts in God, it will prevail."
