5.4 2v questions
What is needed to swap a 5.4 2v in to replace the 4.6?
Wiring harness? Computer? Different motor mounts? Anything? Will it just bolt right in? It should, shouldn't it? Also, are there rebuild kits for 5.4 2v's? I know the Lightnings have this motor but with a blower and whatever else that's L specific. Will the heads/intake from the Bullitt fit on the 5.4? What about the exhaust I have? Is it reusable on a 5.4? Will it fit under the stock hood if a non-truck intake manifold was used? Thanks in advance, and if there's any other useful info I'd need, post it up.

No idea.
My gf's dad's shop has a complete 5.4 2v taking up space. I'd want it rebuilt with some goodies, but I need to know if parts from my motor will swap over or not...and other misc. things. He just sprung it on me last night, and it got me thinking. Definitely possible.

Your intake won't fit, and if it already has heads on it I would use/port and polish/rebuild them and sell your engine complete. The truck intake will be too tall for your hood but I'm sure there are plenty of shops that make custom sheet metal intakes that will fit under your hood.
I am pretty sure your headers will match up to the 5.4 heads... I think they are all interchangeable.... But don't quote me on that part.

Why wouldn't the intake fit? That sucks if I can't re-use it. I know Kar Kraft makes adapter plates, but the items they have are for 4v.

when I asked jody this question a while back he told me "you'll need the 5.4 to 4.6 intake adapter plates, a little fabbing of the exhaust and steering sector shaft, heavy duty springs in the front and thats about it." Looking around the net that is pretty much what everyone says. The intake shouldn't be too tallfor your hood. I think that only with the 5.4 sc out of a lightning that has that problem.

5.4 lt 2v
ok from i found when i was going to do the swap i found out the following the wiring harness and the comp can be reused with a tune .
as far as the intake you can try either mmr or karkraft they both make adapters if you have the complete engine from timing cover to oil pan then thats all you would need the adaptors and extend youre wiring harness good luck .

Dave comtact the guy on here (2v4now I believe it is) he just put a 5.4 L motor in an 00 gt I think he would be the person to talk to.
Alot of upper stuff will not swap as a 5.5 block is taller therefore wider so intake etc will not sawp over.

The harness can be modified slightly, the intake does not swap over due to height and width issues, but the adapter plates solve that issue. As far as springs, some from a Cobra will work or even by adding isolators to help increase height due to the weight of the 5.4.

your intake is worth more than your entire long block on the used parts market.
if its just a straight swap and you can do it for cheap, go for it. headers, harness, adaptor plates, etc are the main things. you have a complete long block 5.4 so you dont have to get the usual things like timing covers and such. Pop some cams in there with your bullit intake on the 5.4 and call it a day. Make 300/340 ish

Hard to justify porting 2v heads and forging a motor just to make an extra 30-40 rwhp.

I was interested in fixing it up some, or atleast rebuilding it because the amount of miles on it is significant. And that is where a big concern lies. The mileage of the 5.4. Even if it's rebuilt and everything works great, is it going to get "tired" not too far down the road, or should I just start with something newer with a lot less wear and tear on it?
