    67 mustang

The girlfriend has a 67 stang with a good running motor but she says her rear end took a dump. What size and how hard would a rear end swap from say a 95 or 02 be? I told her it's a shame she's not driving it and needs to keep it on the road.

You can swap in an 8.8 may just have to move the spring perches...that's what I have in mine

Can be done but requires a little rework for suspension mounting points and you would need to do some cutting/welding to relocate said points. Look for a 9 inch from the same era and family of cars would be a lot easier swap to do.

Fathom the odd hypocrisy that Obama wants every citizen to prove they are insured, but people don't have to prove they are citizens.

If you voted for Obama in 2008 to prove you weren’t a racist, you’d better vote for someone else in 2012 to prove you’re not an idiot.

The 8.8 is the easiest and most cost effective

did it crap out due to not being able to keep up with the engine or just cause it was old? If her engine is stock or even just mildly modified, the 8 inch should be able to hold up so long as your on street tires. let me know how your swap goes, im planning to do a rear end swap on my '73 later this year.

    Ford Granada

The ford Granada has the same demensions as the 67 and if the car had a v8 in it, it has a 9in rear end, that is what I got in my 67.

Wow, did not know it came with a 9". The engine was a rebuilt motor and looks stockish except for some mid length headers and a couple edelbrock goodies on the top of the motor.
I don't like the sound of cutting and welding I was hoping it would be a easy rear end swap like my car was.

is rpalaniz offering up the 9" in a granada? or is he saying you can just get a 9" out of a granada? a little confused, sorry. anyway i dont think that just becuase it has a V8 it has a 9". My car was a stock 302 and it came with the 8" open, 3.00 rear stock.

anyway, if you want a direct swap to a 9 my guess is itll have to come out of a mustang, or as rpalaniz says a granada. ive been trying to get a 9" for my '73 for quite some time now.

Oh yea ford 9 factory builds 9" direct boltins but the base package is something like $900.

    UPDATE:

so ive been emailing this guy who posted an ad in CL about a 73 mustang project and claimed to have put an 8.8 rear into it. I asked if he would be willing to sell the 8.8 to me thnking that he already did all the fab work and it would be a direct swap. this is what he wrote back

"There is no work that needs to be done to put an 8.8 into a 1973 Mustang. That's what they had unless it was a Mach one. Then it had a 9" I have two 1973 Mustangs I just swapped both rear ends into the opposite cars.
The only thing I can think that might be different would be from a different year where it was set up for coil springs and not leaves."

i think this guy is mistaking the 8" for the 8.8...
