If your looking at a mint condition, running great, good interior, straight body, and good paint, around 25k or more I would say.
Good lick though, 67's are always sought after

Notice the words mint condition. Of course a trashed one is going to be a lot less. But '67's are worth a lot, esp. gt and if they're a fastback.

I've seen mint condition '65's and '66's sell for over 20k. They're worth it, but its hard for most people to believe or want to pay that much. I paid 6,400 for mine. And that was about 2k too much for it at the time, but hey. Its a damn good investment.

Beleive me. Even if that 5.0 has minor issues. These old ones are nothing to work on compared to these new ones. You don't have to pull a lot of stuff your not even going to touch. Shit. My dad and I put in my HEI distributor in 3 hours.

oh anther thing. if you get it.
its in your best interest to upgrade from points and consendsors, they have kits for $70 at o'riely's.

check for rust, always a problem with the old ones.
1000 seems a bit too cheap, especially if it is running.
I would really look for structural damage, previous wrecks or really bad rust. If it looks good, doesn't mean the problem isn't hiding under body filler.
For 1000 it may be a good start for a project car, so if you are willing and able to do the work, its not too big of a deal to fix everything. Most parts are available aftermarket, you can even get an entire 67 fastback shell in reproduction, it cost about 14K, but anyway.
A starting price around $5000 would be more like a good driveable car.

As with any old car, first things first. Even though it doesn't show much improvement and you don't go faster, BRAKES are the most important, as well as steering and suspension. Start there, upgrade if possible.

Going fast is only good if you can stop and steer, I already made that mistake with my first Mustang. Also if it does have rust, don't just cover it up. Replace the panels, stop the rust, protect the metal.

Good luck

Yes. Def. something that is a MUST when upgrading parts. I still have drums with manual and its hard to come to a stop real quick like these newer cars.
But everything he said is correct. Rust will kill you.

Ryan, at least upgrade to disc brakes in front, also really check out your steering and front suspension.
I seriously recommend, stop spending any money or time on making the car faster. Put some into the important parts.

I wrecked my 65 because of a broken tierod end, what about $30. I just kept the old original steering and rebuilt the drum brakes, big mistake.
This build is going to take alot longer, but it will be done right from the beginning.

I've been looking into SBBC disc brakes, front conversion alone cost $1,200, but I know its a must. Steering I don't mind to leave manual but I want to change out to rack and pinion.
I already put new coil springs and leafs. Me and my dad plan on rebuilding the front suspension though.
