The panic button is disabled on my car when the car is running but on the aftermarket cheap alarm we had on our 'soccer mom mobile' it still worked. My spousal unit hated it when she just pulled out of the driveway in the morning as she leaves for work and I would hit the panic button on the other set of keys inside the house. She drives off with the siren going off until she can fumble around and turn it off.

PS: Married guys, do not try this. I do not recommend this.
