79 pace car
Hey gang,
I bought this car about 2 years ago and I spent a ton of time and money on it, but then we had our second kiddo, and I'm really busy at work so now it's just been sitting. I'll probably start parting it out soon and returning it to stock, but I figured I'd post in on here first as-is in case someone wants it as-is. There are more details and photos here: 1979 Mustang Pace Car. but in a nutshell, here's what it is: Beautiful 79 pace car (original v8/auto car) 39,000 original miles. Exterior: The car has no rust and appears to have never been in an accident. (I've been under this car many times, and everything is very straight/clean.) It was repainted in the factory style and received new stickers in the mid 90s due to the original paint fading (according to the previous owner.) Interior: The all-original interior is almost perfect. The car appears to have lived in a garage its entire life. There is no sun fading, cracking or warping of any kind. The factory Recaro seats are in excellent shape and still very supportive. Engine: AFR headed 347 long block (details below.) I purchased the engine from a friend. In his car, it put down 440/408 to the rear tires. It had about 5k miles on it, and since it was out, I tore into it to to check everything out. The crank had excessive endplay, so I replaced it with a new forged crank and had the whole assembly re-balanced and purchased new bearings and gaskets for it. It's ready to re-assemble and drop in. * 347cid shortblock * Scat forged crank and rods * Probe main girdle * JE/SRP forged pistons * AFR 185cc cylinder heads * Erson 1.6 stud-mount RR * Comp Cams XE282HR cam * Moroso 7qt Oil Pan/pickup/dipstick * Ford MotorSport Valve Covers * Mallory Distributor/Ignition Front suspension: * New lower control arms with sn-95 ball joints * SN-95 spindles and hubs (96) * New Bullitt springs * New Bullitt Tokico struts * New camber/caster Plates * Flaming River manual steering rack and shaft Rear Suspension: * New Bullitt rear springs * New Bullitt Tokico Shocks * New Adjustable Weight Jacker lower control arms with spherical bushings * New fully built 8.8 with Torsen 31 spline torque-sensing differential, Moser axles, FMS 3.55 gears, T/A girdle Brakes: * Front - New 13" Drilled/Slotted SN-99 Cobra Brakes * Rear - Baer 12" Drilled/Slotted Wheels/Tires * Enkei Aegis 3-piece forged wheels 17x8 * New Nitto 555 245 17s - Front * New Nitto 555R (Drag Radials) 275 17s - Rear Misc: * New complete return-style fuel system with filter, pump, lines, hoses, a/n fittings and tank pickup. (not installed.) ![]() ![]() ![]() I have well over $12,000 in it, but am asking $9000. I know that's a premium, and I'll get flamed for asking so much, but this is a truly top-notch car, being built with top-notch parts. My goal was to build one of the nicest 4-eyes in the country. Someone could easily finish this project if they just had a little more free time than I do and have a really sweet street/strip/show car that will do it all well! Thanks! -Scott |

There is a very big Mustang Show up in Tulsa in June .... last year, there was one of these (or a clone, perhaps) ....
Mid America, Ford, Team Shelby, Mustang, BOSS, Shelby, Fairlane, Galaxy, Falcon, Car Show, Drag Race, Road Race, SAAC, Hallett Perhaps consider taking it up there. You'll get your price up there. Very serious car people were there last year. Muy dinero cars were everywhere! It's a thought. "Rare" and "Unique" are usually difficult to market locally.... Hey! I found your car's twin's picture .... check this out.

Thanks for the heads-up and compliments guys! Sorry for the slow reply, I was out of town for a wedding. I'll look into that show for sure. (even if my car sells or I decide to sell another toy instead, that show looks like a heckuva lot of fun!)
