'85 GT Hatch

Welcome to my build thread!

Not to sure where im going with this car, but im gonna use this thread to document what im doing along the way. The car is an '85 GT with body work done. only needs a few things to be complete on the outside.
-cowl
-side molding
-door seals
-new locks for hatch and doors

the interior is the big hurdle with this car. Not much is usable and there is a few rust spots to deal with.
-new seats
-dash pad
-carpet
-headliner
-door panels
-debating whether too keep console or delete it

as far as the motor goes, i do plan to build it, but still am not sure on specifics.

ill keep plenty of pics of everything i do along the way.. this is gonna be a fun ride.

My project for the day was the removal of the side panals inside. i cleaned those off and am begining to prep them for paint.(plan to spray black or dark grey)

also i worked on the rust problem.. this is what i started with.

and what i did..

preped for paint..

also had a smal spot where the back seat was.. it was pretty bad! i did all i could with the tools i had to clean it up. ultimatly it was too bad to get it all, i cleaned it up the BEST i could with a witre wheel.

and heres the trunk 1st coat

2nd coat

and the finished product

excuse the messed up tape line.. understand im a super rookie with this and this is all first time stuff for me.

all in all..pretty productive day

My Baby is in race trim now!!! :P
Today i took down the headliner, removed the center console, kick panels, door panels and passenger seat.

everything went smooth today... lol when i was taking down the headliner...a damn spider fell in my lap! scared the hell out of me..

heres some pics of the progress so far.

here is the headliner. all stripped down and ready for some new skin. the mold that was on the headline didnt get through to the cardboard so thats a plus.

i plan to do a console delete so i will be selling my console and the electronics as well.

Also.. with some help from my neighbor; we figured out that i do not need a break booster. Just a master cylinder!!! that saves me over $100
