    9" for the '73

    So after stalking a local junkyard manager i was finally able to convince him to sell me the 9" rear end out of a '73 mustang, the car was in pretty bad shape but he was dead set on selling it complete, asking 2500, Boo! anyway he said he has a buyer fro the motor and tranny so hes willing to sell me the complete rear end for $300. itll be a direct fit, complete rear end. Sweet!

    Eddie performer RPM heads
    X303 cam
    hedman elite headers
    2.5" pypes full exhuast, X pipe, Violators

    no havent checked with them. didnt know bout them. do they have alot of older mustangs there?

    only reason i knew bout this one was cuz they had it sitting out in front of the junk yard and i see it every day on my way home from work. too bad the hood was the regular one and not the NACA hood.

    Yes, at least they used to. It's been years since I have been out there. They are off of foxtrotter rd. and they are in the phone book and internet.

    so i went by today to make sure the guy would still sell it, and he siad yes, asked by when i needed it and i told him no rush. he asked for a deposit so i gave him half and he gave me a reciept for it. i told him id prolly be in on the weekend to pull it, and he says

    "oh no man, well pull it for you. ill have it out whenever you need it. if you want it tommorrow i get it out tommorrow"

    lol so anyway ill be in on friday to pick it up and pay the rest as friday is payday.

    here it is, picked it up earlier today. just needs to be cleaned up and make sure everything is the way it should, might need to be freshened up. and then we can put some new legs on the ole '73 courtesy of another '73

    Ok so now how would I be able to tell what gears it has, and if it's an open unit or locker?

    I actually decoded the data plate, and if it's the original it looks to be an open wimpy 2.75 ratio gear, however according the what I saw and what should be in there neither the engine or tranny was original to that car. It even had full exhaust with an h pipe and flows.

    I meant is there a tag under one of the nuts that attach the third member to the housing?

    On the hood order a fiberglass mach style from a company in Florida. Man I have so much research on parts from my 71 it's ridiculous. Lol! It's darkhorse racing. I have a 60fi external Mallory fuel pump w regulator n large filter that I bought for my carbd setup I'll sell for $200 it retails for abt $370. Also I have unilite dizzy for the modified or Cleveland and a ton of carbd parts for a 351 w including tfs heads that have 202/160s with all new stuff on them they are minus rockers. ($800) need to b assembled. They where at rons for a while. I got these frm Bryan(90gt). Victor Jr intake n comp9000 for a 351w carbd. Text me tomorrow 210-eight43-five 308.

    Be sure you set up the gear lash properly or youll have noise issues and other things to fix after it is back in the car.....

    Right now my plans are to have it all buttoned up together by Ron Bell.

    Went to see about 31 spline axles to match the locker he has at his shop that will be going into this houseing. currently has 28 spline.

    After takin it apart i also discovered this rear had some work done to it before i pulled it. The richmond gear it has is still no identified but nogalitos showed me how to figure out the ratio. i hoping its a 3.50ish gear. also it had one side completely rebuilt brakes. the other side is in ok shape.
