95-98 Cobra?
I'm an ex Lightning owner and I've been wanting to get a Cobra. I've been doing the research and I love the 96-98 Cobras. I've been looking at purchasing one and I dont know a lot about them. I like making educated decisions and wanted to see what you guys thought about them and anything I should look for. Thanks for your time and input!

I love my 97 Cobra, the cars do really well in higher RPM power, but note that these cars being a DOHC mod motor tend to get really pricey when it comes to a rebuild BUT with tires, Basic Bolt ons, gears & driver the car can be in the 12's N/A.

Not without really sticky tires & gears and a damn fine driver. Or at least thats what the 120 or so 12 second Timeslips over at SVTP say

Copied from SVTP
96- overheating problem (do a search), which is an expensive fix if not already done. Aluminum IMRC plates. 1st year for the dual nostril hood which looks great IMO, and the rear bumper that says COBRA in big letters. previous models came with mustang written across back bumper. 96 also got the Mystic option 97-Cooling issues got fixed, not much else changed 98-No dash pod clock, changed aluminum IMRC's to composite, Cobra R style wheels, Bright Atlatic Blue arguably the best mustang color ever. also had a center console with cupholders(handy), But they also got a mix of returnless & return style fuel systems

If you do not know what you are buying, then have it checked and pay for it to be looked at by a certified auto technician to be sure all is well.

its more of a solid 12s instead of eeking in there full exhaust and 4.10s or greater and tire. I know several girls at txstate that have busted off 12s with those mods. I know guys on here and around town that have done far less with more mods. a full bolton 96-98 4v is a faster combo than your average head/vtstage2 cam full bolton 2v if you can land a set of 03 heads and intake and use your 98 cams, you are looking at a potential 350+ rwhp combo that is an 11 second car with traction
