97 Mustang GT question

I am thinking about picking up a 97 GT for sale in my area and would like opinions/input. It is a 97 with auto transmission. It is low mileage and reasonbly priced....I just dont know anything about that year. Any problems or anything to be concerned with this year? I currently own an 04 Gt and the 97 would be my project car for future mods. I would appreciate any positive or negative feed back on this year GT...thanks.

the sn95 4.6 stangs are good cars to mod. the one thing to look for is to see if its had the intake fix, it is a warranty item but expires 7 years after the build date. of course if you plan on replacing the intake with a pi intake or something else its not of much concern. The replacement intake has an aluminum crossover on the front, the bad one is all black blastic.

also, the auto will take a few more bucks to make as fast as a 5-speed, but it can be done. and at some point will surpass the 5 speed in performance (high 10's to low 11's)

Good to mod, but break hard and fast when they do! I had a '96 auto. Loved it! If it's a fair price and in good shape, go for it! They are fun

I have a 96, and they cost more to mod than a 5.0, but they are great sleeper cars! like others said, ifs a great deal go for it! it just depends on the "great deal" price.

CHECK the intake manifold (upper) to assure its not cracked.
