98 mitsubishi eclipse w/turbo ne good?

so theres this kid in my class with a 98 spyder eclipse gst or whatever makes it a turbo, as far as im concerned hes got a pretty shitty turbo, i would really rather compare it to a noise maker, he claims hes running a 15 flat in the 1/2 mile with no added mods, now i hear there pretty quick but im not real sure, i currently own a 00 v6 stang with couple of mods that dont really do shit, but ne ways i have a standard tranny and plan to get a pro 50 before i race, i just hate ricers that talk crap and i kinda like to put them in there placei knowit will be a close race but he claims he will blow me out of the water....what do you guys think my chances are honestly. but go easy on you fellow stanger with a six. i might put another one on the board for us.......:jeff: :gil:

it would be close stock vs stock...if he has something like full exhaust or something, you might be in trouble. run him from a stop, he might not be able to catch you, from a roll he'll probably pull you top end

The stock Eclipse GS-T's are decent, but being that this one is convertible (ala "Spyder" designation), it should be a decent race. If I'm not mistaken, there were some heavily modified GS-T's running high 11's down at SAR last time I was there (last year)

Beware the AWD GS-X's. Stock numbers are similar to the non-turbo GS's, but modified, these can be surprisingly quick.

1/8th or 1/4 mile? heheh that would suck to run like a 30 in the quarter. If he does run a 15 flat in the quarter he will win. But my experience with ricers, add oen second on to what they tell you they run.

hahaha... he bought a DSM!!!

Those cars fall apart so fast. Ask him how he likes crank walking, or how he likes the second gear synchros on the bitch. Those cars are fast when they work... and that is rare.

If it is a GSX DO NOT RUN FROM A DIG... if it is GST DO NOT RUN FROM A ROLL!!!

these cars with just free mods can run 13s... so if he any type of mods he will win. sorry... but it is true. But there is a light at the end of the tunnel... the DSM has got to be one of the most problematic vehicles EVER made (behind of course the FD).

I was the donut king at Reagan :jeff:

Never wrecked the car there like the vette, but almost every morning I was over there doing donuts like a madman..... was very very fun!

I can't remember who it was... but there was this one guy there he was like mustangs are slow... blah blah. So I was like get in the car now! We get in the car and I start driving crazy on sonterra by Reagan, I went to do a u-turn with a little fishtail and ended up doing a full 360 there.... cars in the lane coming straight at us..... so I just floor the car.... jumped the middle median (10-12 ft. median) , landed about half way into it and spun into oncoming lane doing a 180 almost getting hit again
:threegear

I swear that guy almost pissed his pants I was shaking.... but acted like it was nothing .... haha :jeff:
