? about intakes

i've heard of poeple mismatching intakes (uppers and lowers) i was just wondering what would work with a truck lower, and are the fuel injectors and fuel rails the same? i'm taking larry's advice and going efi. for more of a streetablilty sense. i sold all my other efi upper stuff a long time ago. but everything else remains the same. i have the maf stuff, wiring harness and computer. oh yeah will the A9L work with a 5 spd. or do i need a diferent computer also? yeah i'm swapping over to a 5 spd also for more fun on the street. i'm just wondering if everything from the trucks efi system will swap over to the mustangs system with the exception of the upper intake i know it wont work.

thanks guys
don

i guess it all depends on what the rest of your motor looks like. ive heard alot of people using the explorer intake.

well the rest of the motor was as it was. its a 5.0 bottom end and heads. the only that left it was the upper and lower intakes along with the injectors and fuel rail and throttle body.

truck lower? which truck?

you can use an explorer lower and it will be matched up with a cobra or gt40.... DO not mix and match unless you know exactly what your getting

There are alot of choices as far as intakes go Don.The truck lower is similar to the Holley lower.I'm not sure if it is the same though. It all depends on how fast you want to go.

no this intake is out of about a 92 model f150. just not the brightest when it comes to these things like mix matching things and no i'm not going to do it until i really have a full understanding of it. i'm going for eventually, the cobra upper and lower, 24lb injectors, 70mm t/b, 75mm maf, x cam, roush 200 heads.

what upper are you running? as long as it is ported out and port matched... and the holes line up it will be fine. whatever you do, you dont want aur coming through the upper and hitting and edge on the lower... thast a nono

what about the injectors and fuel rail?

i'm just running the 302 in the car that has the stock heads, stock bottom end with trw flat tops and an rv cam right now.

i'm not running any intake right now. all i have is the long block minus the intake. but i have the chance to get this truck lower but if it aint going to do me any good then i aint even going to bother with it. but if the injectors and fuel rails will work for me then i'll take them and go on about my business. but just to clear things up, let me clarify what i'm wanting to do and ya'll tell me wheither i should change anything or go with something diferent.

cobra upper and lower
24lb injectors
70mm t/b
75mm maf calibrated for 24lb injectors
x cam
ported gt 40 heads for now
and eventually a 331 stroker bottom end
t-5 tranny
373 gears

now is there anything i should change up or reconsider going with. any help is appreciated.

thanks don

are your pistons notched?

and I may be able to score a cobra upper and lower and 24 pounders for you (if I can get my friend to get off his ars and go to the storage.)

70 t/b is too big for what you have.I would also look for some better heads IMO.

I have a 65mm t-body and a 70 mm MAF. As to the heads, if you got the money i would definaly get some better ones if you can afford it. Edelbrocks are good, but some AFRs would be awesome. I got my edelbrock performers for like 900 assembled so if you look you can get a pretty good deal.
