When I actually use water to wash my car I use the leaf blower to dry it and then a cotton towel to finish it up.

I generally use a wash wax all spray wash on it. Which is spray it on wipe with a towel and then polish with another towel.

BTW I keep it garaged and "try" to avoid rain if at all possible this way it never really gets dirty.

If you are wondering I dont drive it on ugly days nor is it a D/D so I guess I have it rather easy.

I just noticed in the How to wash your car sticky in this section is says to never use terry cloth on your paint and guess who was the first one to reply in that thread....

The leaf blower trick is pretty nice ... and I'd not worry about the velocity of the dust hitting your paint.

Don and I use the leaf blower on ourselves when we are done mowing the yards (to dust off when you are sweaty), and there's nothing that comes OUT of the blower except air.

When I first saw Don using the leaf blower on his car, I was like, "WTF?"

But it works well and gets all the little crevices that tend to hold water ... like MustangLuver98 says!

nowhere did i say that the posted way was how i did it. just that if someone was that anal about their paint, they could do it on my car.

thank you, come again.

if you have an air compressor using a blow gun attachment actually works best for all the crevices. i just hate firing up the compressor when i wash the cars so i stick with the leaf blower since its a simple prime and pull the cord and its running lol

I wasn't calling you out I was just pointing it out. If I wanted to call you out, I'd call you out. But I don't roll like that. So put the piece away homie.

Doesn't compressed air have solvents, lubes, oils, etc. in it? I was always told, although I've seen almost every mechanic I know do it, that you're not supposed to spray compressed air directly onto your skin for this reason. So for the car... I don't see how that's any better than a leaf blower... just my opinion...

But to answer the OP... I don't wash my car all that often, but when I do... I prefer to air dry it by actually driving it. Then all that really needs drying is the glass and certain areas on the car.

Nope... it is just air. Water accumulates in the tank, but that is what a water separator is for.

I was reading this too. Any time you touch your car it damages the clear,
to a point. But good car wash and regular waxing helps this. It is very minor, and I think the leaf blower thing is a little much, but hey some of those guys are pro detailers. I used the absorber for a while and still use it from time to time, but I have switched over to some really nice microfiber waffle weave drying towels from the place where I buy detail supplies. They are really soft and absorb a ton. I use the flood the paint with alot of water then dry with those towels
