Honestly if someone wants to break into your car an alarm is not going to stop them. Go to Best Buy and check theirs out if you feel the need

If you do remote start make sure it is at a VERY WELL known place, that will back up their work. I had an Excalibur alarm with an Echo pager installed in my Buick, and the alarm it self was great, but the guy who installed it screwed up my car like you wouldnt believe. Then they went out of business so I was screwed... several places tried to fix what the guy screwed up, but no one was able to get the car working perfectly.

I have a Viper Responder system with the remote page and start feature on my 01 w/auto trans. Haven't had any problems with it.

Their latest upgrade lets you track your car over the internet if you get the GPS module.

+1 for Viper. Best alarm on the market. I have one with almost all the bells and whistles. Mine pages me if it goes off, you can program the remote.. the only thing it doesn't do is start the car.

i called around for this and no one will install here in texas since they said "it's illegal".

i know how to install it but i will not touch any of my cars anymore. i had remote start on all my cars and they all have been auto and manual trannies. they started auto then swapped into a manual tranny. i also have installed remote start into my eclipse which is a manual from factory.

it's hard to find a place that will do this.

I had a compustar remote start on the cobra for a while, but I didn't like the size of the pager (too big) and the a/c compressor didn't turn on, only the fans. I replaced it with an Xcaliber and I'm very happy. Xcaliber has the remote start option too, I just didn't have it installed this time.

I have the Viper 5900 paging alarm on my "tricked out" work truck. I like it alot.

If/when I invest in an alarm system for my Mustang, I will get the same alarm.

I am not sure about Ford manual transmissions, but I know you can install a remote start on a Subaru manual trans. They have a neutral switch that sends a ground signal to the ECu when in gear, so the alarm will not start unless it's in neutral and not receiving a ground signal. You just just need to hook up the neutral switch to a negative input on the alarm like a hood/trunk pin trigger.

Maybe some one more familiar with the 05 up trans can tell you if Ford has this type of switch.
