The price that i kept running to by going with a stock cam,was enough to do a mass air set up,and a bigger cam.....Not saying that a stock cam is all that bad,its just that i wanted a good set up,but switching to mass air will give more options for mods......Which i understood, but i was just being hard headed.....

if you know what you are doing, you wouldnt suggest someone with stock intake ever put a random cam in as their next mod.

I think you have a moral obligation to someone to recommend the correct next step as apposed to just taking business because it will bring you business.

Quote:
Stock intake, all runners have been enlarged, aswell as the the throttle body area has been enlarged to 68 mm from 58 mm,and the E7's has had all the intake runners enlarged to match the lower intake manifold that has also had the runners enlarged, and the heads have a stage 2 port. the heads have GT-40 stainless steel valves with 600 lift springs, and the exhaust ports have been enlarged with the humps removed. And they have also been milled 30 thousanths to increase compression...
ok, honestly... your intake sucks. you can port and chop and sheet metal all you want and it will still suck. If you put in the stock cam with 1.7s, you can have a torque lil bastard.

who did the heads? do you have actual information to give to a cam grinder? If you are sticking with your intake... give buddy rawls rick anderson or ed curtis a call. wait a month or so for the extra money and get a real cam.

Your best bet will be to get a regular performer or a gt40 family intake, and then get someone to spec you out a cam for your heads.

the difference is, you could slap a trick flow or alphabet cam in your current setup and have a mismatch that makes 255/290 or you could do everything right and make 285+/310+ with the right matching stuff

stage 2 is pretty vague though with e7s. who did the work? are they the ebay ported e7s?

Kotzur did all the work to my heads. They did it all for $600. And the lower intake is mine. They enlarged all the runners, and matched it to my heads. The upper intake i got from Matt Kotzur. It already had work done to it that i was going to do to mine. I don't need a custom grind cam for the setup that i'm going to have.It would make more sense to me,if i'm going to spend the money to get a custom grind cam, then i would also be going all out with the motor. But its a pretty basic steup. I'm trying to stay in the stock specs range, but making everything breath better than what they did from the factory. thats all i feel that i need to do right now. Maybe later on down the line, but for now thats all i want. I have been doing research of what i'm trying to do,so once i have everything together, running and dynoed,i'll see where i'm at and go from there. Oh and The E7's are'nt all that bad. I know that they can flow pretty good as opposed to me getting a set of GT40 style heads or other aftermarket aluminum heads and having the same work done to them, will flow better and make more power, but i wanted to see what E7's are actually capable of,also with the stock HO intakes worked, what power can be produced. A GT40 style intake would make a better candidate, but thats where i'm at. As for the ford letter cams, being as good as they are, that technology that they are based in is out dated. I was going to go with an E cam, until i was turned on to the trickflow. So i'm going to wait and see what happens.....I am also aware that the type of cam makes all the difference. It can make or break the setup.....

well i didnt do too badly with stock e7s and a gt40 intake with an e303 and 1.7s as you could see. The setup dynoed 246/290 with 1k miles on the shortblock.

That intake is just NOT meant to rev much passed 5k. That is the problem with putting in a cam that wants to rev past that. You would be faster with gears and a stock cam with 1.7s

Thats also what i have read, that a stock cam can make oodles of low end torque. Especially when the breathing has been approved......

Here is another site for porting heads and intakes. Tom Moss ported my lower on my old 93 Cobra intakes and I have spoken with him personally. Great guy and a wealth of knowledge. What I like so much about Tom is that he is willing to share his knowledge as you will see on his website.
