Job Summary
Under immediate supervision, is responsible for performing varied work in the operation of a City garage. Exercises no supervision.

Essential Job Functions

Services and lubricates City vehicles;
Repairs and replaces flat tires;
Assists mechanics in performing preventive maintenance on City vehicles;
Washes and cleans City vehicles;
Cleans and maintains shop area;
Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.


Job/Driving Requirements

Graduation from high school or a General Education Development (GED) Certificate;
One year experience as a service station attendant or auto shop attendant;
Substitution Ratio: One year of related experience for one year of higher education;
This position requires a Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License and must obtain a valid Class "B" CDL Texas Driver's License plus all required endorsements within ninety (90) days of employment;

Job Summary
Under direction, is responsible for performing complex and technical diagnostic automotive mechanical work servicing, repairing, or maintaining a variety of vehicles, small, large, and heavy equipment. Exercises no supervision.

Essential Job Functions

Performs preventative maintenance on vehicles and heavy equipment;
Services and repairs engines in automobiles, trucks, boats, and equipment;
Replaces and adjusts major drive train assemblies and components;
Repairs electrical automotive equipment such as installing batteries, terminals, lights, starters, modules, and alternators;
Uses test devices, engine analyzers, gauges of various types, and other equipment;
Performs diagnostic tests to locate malfunctioning systems;
Performs repairs on electrical, heating, and cooling systems;
Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on hydraulic systems;
Utilizes proper safety precautions and procedures related to work performed;

I can get you in as a direct hire

I know it says 6am to 11pm but what are the normal working hours that are usually used?

that was the old time hours depend on the site you work at the service centers run from 615am -- 630 pm 2 shifts first shifts 1 630 am to 530 pm and 2nd 730am to 630pm . police garage has 3 shifts 630 to 330 and 330 to 630 and I think the 3rd shift till 1130 --- 10hr days 4 days a week plus OT (sometimes) I work 5 days 700am till 330pm you get 80hrs a check good benifits and hollidays off

you won't any of that stuff the most you will do is change tires , oil/filters , starters, alt, brakes ect, water pumps ---- if you want a job there HIRING they are short pepole since there have been a lot of pepole retiring ---
( oh yea after 20yrs you can retire) I have 7yrs making 13+ hr .. I was making 12 my first year just for changing tires and oil .... I make 7.50 outside the city 7 yrs ago
