If you all check out my avatar, I posted a pic of a '99 GT I am thinking about picking up. I don't think that I have ever seen one with those hood stripes before. Does anyone have any other input on that car besides it being a 35th Anniversary car? Thanks!

well, the stripes are definitely aftermarket. it has an added mach1 chin spoiler. plus, there's a pistripe added along the side. what details are you trying to figure out about the GT?

Ive seen one like it around SA(same stripes) not sure if it is a Factory stripe option or aftermarket/dealer installed deal.

Yeah, that's the one on the Gulf Freeway and Fuqua exit. I was about to go over there this evening around 6:00 or 6:30 p.m. to check it out.

i almost bought one like that too, except it was DSG with black stripes. removing them would have been my 1st mod!

I did some research and found 3 other White '99 Gt's with the same exact hood stripes and front chin spoilers. They didn't all have the pinstripe down the side though. I was just curious to see if this might be a dealer add-on
or where the sellers of these cars were in a hood stripe, chin spoiler gang!

i agree... i found a bright atlantic blue stang w/ minimal body damage (one dent and one scratch both on the same panel) for less than 10k... that car's still forsale if you want more info on it..

That is a little high but remember he is buying from carmax. Normally they are a little higher but for good reason. They do some of the best inspections and have a really good and Cheap warranty available. CarMax is one of the only places that actually inspects trades before accepting them. When i was gonna trade in my v6 evey other dealership appraised my car by looking at it from inside of the dealership and from my word. LOL. Now carmax on the other hand, test drove the car and looked under the hood and more. Which makes it a safer buy than to buy private party however there is an extra cost for that carmax service. their moto is buy it or leave it

i thought carmax was known to give good deals on buying people's cars, but they rape people that buy from them.

It depends. They offered me dirt for my truck, but turned around and sold it for $6000 over what they offered. My dad bought a Silverado from the local Carmax and got a great deal, so its kind of back and forth.

Locally (the Carmax on 45) tends to give you less for your car, and charges too much to sell. So everyone but Carmax gets screwed at that particular one.

Thats the same way the carmax is here. I was gonna trade in my v6 vert there and they only offered me 10K but i was offered 13k at other dealerships and i know they are gonna sell it for 16k or more because they have hard tops with more miles on the lot for 15k
