It can be done. I would suggest having a unit built with a little better stuff than stock if you plan on beating on it any at all. Stock Aod's pretty much suck.
so ive heard, i definately would go for something beefed up. you dont by chance work with aods do you source? i found a site that supposedly sells built aods and the kit for the swap. however they come with quite a price tag, close to that of a gear vendor unit for a c4.... the comapny is called PATC and ive read on other forums that their workmanship isnt great. I think id rather find a aod and have local shop build it.

I don't mess with autos. I would suggest Trans King in Galveston if they are open. I know they shut down when Ike hit. They kick ass when it comes to built automatics.
FB (Frank Brown) Performance Transmissions in New York builds pretty tough OD trannys. My brother knows a guy in a low 9 second 69 camaro that bracket races it & drives it all over Houston & he has had one of thier trannys in his car for several seasons.

585 rwhp / 570 rwtq on 10 psi boost & 93 octane.
Kind of a creepy part of town (to a gringa), but this guy is straight-up!
Did some work for me quite a few years ago ... and then didn't do some work, too! (Long story/short version: I gave him some big coin wanting to do something and then changed my mind - he returned my cashola happily!)

Remember the AOD has the TV cable and the adjustment is important. Don't drive it without the proper adjustment.

It takes a different cross member, after market sells one that bolts in.
Carb needs the added linkage for the TV cable. Think the driveshaft has to be shorter.
Call Gerald Kosub Transmission, in China Grove, east side of San Antonio. He can do it.

This has been done many times lots of info and kits available. Do some research and reading it is a pretty simple straight forward swap to do.
