well this is for the people who live in Houston obviously. i need some ideas on areas to stay out of if i move there. im looking into a condo to lease/rent mainly because my experience with apartments is that the walls tend to be too thin for comfort. that and i am moving for a career with exxonmobil if i do. thanks for any help

i have not been told. supposedly once i accept the offer and it gets within i believe a month from my start date they will let me know. i believe i would be downstream more than likely though. a lot of the information tech buildings seemed to be around the inner loop of houston. i was looking at the cosmopolitan or southpoint townhomes or mosaic for condos. mostly in the medical area because my friend who lives at southpoint townhomes suggested that. but he has only been there less than a year

only downstream facility is in Baytown.
I worked for three different exxon companies and they are always up front about the job/location. your situation sounds fishy.

86 sleeper if you do have suggestions of where to look around and where to stay away from let me know. i would like to stay within the loop or barely outside it mainly because then the radius to get from one side of houston to the other wil be killer

i totally agree, but there are so many exxon locations, it would be impossible to suggest the perfect place.
Anything inside the 610 loop is going to be pretty pricey.

yeah and my concern for saftey is not jsut of me and my car but my gf eventually sure will be my future fiance and wife will be moving there with me after she garduates so i need to be sure that the area i choose has the least likliness for her to be in harms way. my uncle pointed something out though. even burglars have cars lol so even though i get a nice area there is a chance but reducing the chances of something happening makes me feel better. to me living in an area that has a low crime rate is better than living right next to the burglar if you get my drift. so far the cheapest lease i have found on a nice condo is $1500/month

actually 91 gt it doesnt matter what company you work for really just general knowledge of houston is required here. im just trying to figure out an area of houston im least likely to be robbed, shot, stab, etc

houston wouldn't be for you then.
live just outside in the suburbs and crime will be reduced. I would personally stay outside of the loop. A 1500 condo will not be the best area. A 1500 apartment would at least buy you a decent complex.

Oh, I guess my smart ass reply didn't make it? No matter where you live (not just Houston) there is crime. I have a very nice home in a very nice area and there is still assholes with guns, knives and robbing people. Just get in a nice area, buy a nice gun and watch out for assholes. I have lived here for eleven years and have managed staying out of harms way. It's how you live not necessary where.![]()
