Backseat seatbeats

Well. I have to put seatbeats in my back seat. And has anyone here ever done that?
What do I need to do for the install?

I believe a factory option for 65 was rear set belts. You may already have the threaded anchor points to install the seat belt bolts. Pull out the bottom seat and look on the drive shaft tunnel and corners of the lower panel. If you see any rubber drain plug looking items pull those off and see if there is any threaded anchor plates.
Iin the early 1965 mustangs, belts were attached with eye bolts, in mid year they switched to a standard hex head. If you have them all you need to do is get some new quality belts like from Mustang Parts House . You don't want belts that are old and dry rotted from sitting out in the junkyard. In a real emergency thos could easily snap.

If you really want a trick project you could install 3 point seat belts froma late model vehicle. This guy http://www.472ci-67mustang.com/Seat_...elts_index.htm used Hyundai 3 point system belts in his 67.

Since you will be transporting a youngun around you might want to consider placing some sort of firewall behind the backseat to block of the trunk area from the passenger compartment, or at least reinforce the trunk floor with something like this. Tankarmor.com

In case of a severe rear end collision either one of these could make a difference. Any little bit helps with so many stupid careless drivers out there.

I'd have to agree. The bolt holes for the anchor bolts will be under the lower seat on the tunnel as previously stated. 20 minute job at the most.......

That would be pretty easy for me to do, except I don't know how I would remove my headliner and put it back again w/out messing it up...

And that trunk armor would be good, just depends how much it is.

64 1/2 through 68 MustangShipping Weight 30 Lbs.$198.77 + shipping and handling

I don't believe you need to remove the entire headliner, just remove the windlace and slowly unglue enough of the side material to find the shoulder belt anchor points and mark the location. Then cut a small x in it to pass the bolt through. Then reglue the sides and erinstall the windlace. Don't skimp on the glue, get the can of 3M heavyduty upholstery spray adhesive. Maybe someone more familiar with this model will chime in with another way.

I would look into another car instead.
These old cars are not quite as safe as a newer one.
Don't get rid of your stang, but a nice 4 door as a daily driver would be good.
It sucks having to climb into the back seat with a baby in your arms.
Congrats on the baby, be strong and forgiving, it will be hard.
Oh, you have to, I said HAVE TO get up at night with the baby, it is best for your relationship

I don't have the money for another, nor will I be able to pay gas and insurance for another car. I have to do with what I have.

Safety should be the number 1 priority of your child. I don't see anything wrong with using the rear factory lap belts but I would purchase the tank armor. It just makes sense to install since the gas tank is your trunk floor.
